Pinning on a Friday

Basically, this is just a never-ending wish list of things I want to buy but am forcing myself to wait until I have a grown-up salary to buy.

1. Cute swimsuits (because Hawaii...)

I'm going to Hawaii again for Spring Break and I've been thinking a lot about buying a new swimsuit or two for the rotation. This one is super cute, but it's sold out... still, that means I have to keep looking!

2. A Home So I Can Decorate It!

I've seen so many cute houses for sale lately and it's KILLING me. I just really want to buy a tiny cute little house and make it adorable, ya know? I love these big windows and the simple white everywhere. Gorgeous. Yay for windows.

Also a huge fan of those wood beams on that ceiling. I've been really drawn to kitchens lately. I can't wait to have a cozy little kitchen with lots of tea and coffee supplies and mismatched large mugs and yummy dinners. Life goals there, loves.

Two words. That hutch. I might die. It's beautiful and I want it in my life.

3. All The Clothes.

I want to shop so much lately, which is kinda unlike me. I bought two sweaters from Target yesterday (I'll write about them later if they work out) and I went to my favoriteeee boutique in town yesterday as well. I just want to be a cute teacher!!

4. A Teacher Planner!

I'm in the market for a good teacher planner! I'll probably end up buying the one below, but I like the original layout of the pink one above. So who knows. I have a little while to decide. The Erin Condren planners are expensive, but they're BEAUTIFUL. I intended to just post the sunflower one because that quote is my fave, but then I found two more! So here they all are!

Aren't they so pretty?! I can't even. I need three planners, right? I can justify that somehow...

I'm from the PNW, it's straight up engrained in my brain that I should be sipping out of one of these babies in the woods somewhere, gazing out  window while half-reading that book and listening to lots of rain. It's a given. Let's ignore the fact that these things are hand painted and cost like five million dollars.

On that note, I'll go not buy anything else for the rest of my life.
Have a great weekend, lovelies!

Hey Sunshine

Hi there! I don't know about you, but my yesterday was beautiful! I woke up late (8:30 am, heyyy!) and started working on my teaching assessment immediately. At 10am or so, Ry came over and we worked on homework together. At 12:30 I went to work and I WORE CAPRIS GUYS! In the PNW! In February! It's a miracle, I tell ya.

So anyway, I wore capris and a t-shirt, in FEBRUARY, did I mention that? I also got iced coffee, because the sun was out. It was wonderful.

Work was great too, my lovely boss told me she's sad to see me go (insta emotions) and told me I'm going to be a great teacher and a great mom someday and I was just so appreciative of all of her compliments and I'm going to miss them all so much when I leave (in 22 days)

Then I came home and my roommates and I had a homework party (hi J, N, and A) and I FINISHED MY ASSESSMENT. Well, for then anyway, today I plan to review everything one more time and then go shopping at boutiques (and Goodwill for childrens' books- see, relevance!)

Anyway, I hope wherever you were today there was sun.
Also, shoutout to J for totally reading over my shoulder rn. Roomie love.

This Week

This week has really been a straight up blur. I honestly can't believe that one week from now it will be March when February just started. Where is the time going?! Normally, I would be so excited that graduation is nearing and the school year will be over and then I can get a job and all, but... nah.

I spent all last week planning for and then teaching and then filming my self teaching, my unit on poetry! It was so fun and the kids did a great job! But, that means this week is the week that I spend every. waking. moment. writing commentary for this thing.

For an example, I woke up at 9am yesterday and started working on all of my commentary writing. I had work at 4 so I stopped working at 3pm. That's six hours of writing! And I'm not even done! AHH.

But, I do have rough draft answers in place for each one of the 936 sections (kidding, I don't think there's that many, but I'm scared to count) so hopefully I'll be motivated enough to spend the next two days working on them.

Then again, here I am writing this blog post when I'm supposed to be working on commentary...

Oh, p.s. other fun things this week - one of my roommates made a blog! It's cool to now know real-life people who are writing about their lives and hoping someone listens, too.

Happy Tuesday, everybody.
And yes, I realize full well that I put Tuesday, I just feel that it's a symbol of my week...

Playing Catch (Up)

Hello! How was your Valentine's Day!? I feel weird saying that, since Valentine's Day was three days ago... it feels so much longer than that. I went to the store on the morning of the 15th, at 9 am, and they were throwing Valentine's Day candy in carts to be price marked like it was the end of the world. It was strange.

The whole weekend was a blur. On Friday night we went to see The Choice (not embarrassed about being obsessed with Nicholas Sparks books/movies at all!) and it was really good! I read the book when I was in middle school so I had to see it! Ry didn't seem to hate it, so that was great!

Saturday morning he went with me to watch my students play basketball (they were so adorable!!) and return some things for my mom. We came home and went our separate ways to get ready for Valentine's Day dinner.

This year we decided to celebrate on Saturday, instead of Sunday, and I think the crowd was better than it was last year. We went to a new restaurant we've never been to (well, Ry had, I hadn't) and ate
steak and crème brulee. So adult of us, right?

Ry gave me this super cute book he had made of all the reasons he loves me (I'll have to make a blog post about it soon, it's precious! And gave me a card and a plant (yay plants!!) After dinner we went home and watched segregation documentaries for his sociology class (perks of being in love with a future history teacher! :) )

On Sunday morning (ya know, the actual holiday) we went to church and then came home to make pancakes!! The rest of the day was pretty lazy. We did some homework and got Dairy Queen for dessert.
Overall, pretty great weekend. This week is almost over (thank goodness) but I'm only halfway through my teaching assessment and I'm stressing buckets. I recognize that's not a real stress term, but I have no energy to think of a real one.
Pray for my assessment, and my sanity. :)
Happy Thurday!

Real Life

Side note to say that my hair doesn't curl, so those curls lasted for a total of 22 minutes. I just find it funny that I used thisss picture for my 'real life' post since it's not real life at all that my hair has curls. That's probably not even funny to anyone but me.

Anyway, I decided to document today as the day that I told someone about my blog (yay me!) I don't know why I've never said anything to anyone (and I mean anyone...) but today was the day to talk. So, I told my roommate, J, who I've talked about a little bit on her birthday
and when she went studying at Starbucks with Ry and I like the perfect little college students we are.

I don't think I'll suddenly tell the world now, but it's nice to know there's somebody out there who I know reading my words. And now I can embarrass her without feeling guilty about it (just kidding J, just kidding)

Hope your week is going well everybody.

Relationship Smash Book

So, funny story. If you read this blog you probably know that I have the teeniest tiniest little blog in the whole world. I post super irregularly and I can count the number of people who regularly come and read my random thoughts and comment on one hand (ok, maybe two on a good day)

I've pretty much accepted the fact that I'm too busy to be super dedicated to blogging and that my blog will never blow up and I'll never be uber famous or anything. I'm okay with that, really.

But, I still check my monthly view counts, because I want to see how I'm doing. For example, this summer I put in quite a bit of work and I was regularly posting things five times a week. As a result of that work (or at least I hope so...) August was a 1200 views month (which is literally nothing compared to most people, but to me it was great.

So now that I'm doing nothing I was super shocked to find out that in January (as in last month when I posted six times. SIX (I counted) I had a 900 view month. Because of this post. So I'm bringing it back. :) Enjoy again!

Begin old post that randomly brings me success, here...

Alright, y'all. (You know things are serious when I throw in a y'all) I'm about to share one of my favorite things in the whole world and probably my best kept secret. My smash book. Literally no one except my parents, brother, and roommate know about it.

Smash Books are basically scrapbooks for the busy (or uncreative) of which I am both. They're premade with themes that incorporate backgrounds and templates relevant to whatever you're bookin' about.

I decided to make one for my relationship to cover our first year together and will probably make another one after that. They're so cute and Ry doesn't know it exists yet, which is exciting. So shhh!

Anyway, here's a mini tour of some of my smashed pages. This was the 'wedding' themed book, but I ripped out some overly weddinged pages or covered the words with pictures.

The fronts of the books are super cute and heavy duty, they all have a cloth like spine and some design on the front

This is the first background page in my book, so cute. I knew I wanted this one right when I saw this page.

Not enough room to write? Attach an envelope! I wrote a little note about why I made the smash book an what it's about in the first few pages.

Pretty self explanatory. I love verses and good quotes, and why not relate them to relationship.

Supposed to be your wedding date, but it's my dating date and a brief story of how Ry asked.

I've also out all of the cards he's given me for holidays and birthdays in here. I use painters tape so that I can always take them out if I want/need to and they won't damage.

Movie tickets from movie dates! I primarily use the smash book to document the completion of our adventure list, just about everything has pictures and souvenirs from the day. Again, he doesn't even know! Best part.

Last page in the whole thing is this cute little deal. Love it.

Basically, if it can be glued down it can be smash booked and I absolutely love that. I usually put things in the pages I plan to have them in and glue it all down when I have time.

If you thought you couldn't scrapbook, you're wrong! You just need this, or something similar. So easy and so worth it! How do you save your memories?
