I tried

I tried to write something today. I really did. I started drafting a post about Kate spade bags and how much I love them and need them in my life, but then the images didn't work correctly and I gave up on that.

Here are some random thoughts I had they couldn't quite make it jnto their own posts. Like this: you ever take time and get dressed and feel good only to realize your picture looks weird and lopsided and your mirror is dirty and then you question if it's just the picture or if you actually looked like a goof all day?

You ever plan a whole lesson and come in on a Monday morning ready to teach 5th graders about fractions AND be observed only to find out you prepped for the wrong lesson. I have.

Ever give a pony a messy bun? I have. She's a good sport. Our hair matched this day.

Ever had a boyfriend from Hawaii and as a result been completely obsesseddddd with hobby lobby's Hawaii decor like this. Because I have. A lot.

Anyway, that's all I've done. 💚

I've been sick with some weird stomach bug, getting over that thankfully.

I've been really worried about the future. Will I get a job? Where should I live next year? Why can't I know these things yesterday?

I'm finally realizing that in fifty something days I'll be leaving my fifth grade kiddos and that hurts my heart

I submit my teaching assessment in 39 days. Basically the biggest thing of my college career and life thus far.

Working my last day of my job and then going to Hawaii in 55 days.

Graduating from college in 141 days.

What've you been up to lately?

Five on Friday! (Yay!)

How was your week?! I can't believe I've been back into this school thing for two weeks already... time flies when you're stressing on the way to your dreams, folks. But still, week two was a solid one.

1. I went to a Christmas tree bonfire. I don't know if those are a thing anywhere else, but here.. we do those. Downfall was that since we live in Oregon, the land of a thousand rainy days, the trees were too wet to light. Even with gas. So we stood around and socialized a lot and then went to play games. Ry is really into taking pictures lately, and I wish I had some of the ones he took from the day.

2. Games like SuperFight! When I first heard about this, I thought I wouldn't like it... and I didn't... I LOVED it. SuperFight is the simplest game ever. You draw a character and an attribute from the three of each type in your hand (for yourself or another player, depending on how you're playing the round) and try to make them the best (or worst) you can. For example, one time someone made me E.T. with one tiny baby arm.

And then, you use your remaining attribute cards to choose one to either make your character better, so you can win, or another character worse, so they can lose. Example: I gave my tiny baby armed E.T. a lightsaber.

It's great.

3. My brother wasn't home for the holidays (now I have that song stuck in my head...) so he gave me by birthday/Christmas present late. And it was a watch!! I talked a while ago about wanting a watch, and now I have one! And I love it.

4. I studied at Starbucks with Ry and one of my roommates, J, which made me feel very collegiate. I've never studied in a coffee shop in all of my four years of college... hm. And then we went to the dollar store for teacher supplies.

5.Started planning another trip to Hawaii... so we'll see how that goes!

How was your week??

Favorite Day of the Week

As long as I can remember I've had a favorite day of the week. When I was in elementary school, it was Wednesday because it's right in the middle of the week. You've accomplished a lot, but still have things to do, and you're equally spaced between the last weekend you lived and the next one you'll encounter. It seemed symmetrical and good.

Nowadays, my favorite days are Thursdays. I realize Thursday isn't a symmetrical day, and that it's not Friday which might make more sense if I was basing this off of proximity to the weekend...

But it's still my favorite.

Thursdays are the only morning I don't wake up at 6:30am, but at 8 (or 9 or 10... it all depends) because I don't have anywhere to be until noon. And that's awesome.

I spend four hours in my student teaching classroom, and then just two hours at work (my last work day of the week)

I go to a small group with Ry at one of my favorite family's homes. And they have cute littles. And we eat dinner and talk about Jesus.

And then when all of that awesome stuff is over, I get to go to sleep knowing that even though tomorrow (Friday) is the craziest busiest day of my whole week, it's still Friday, and it's still one day closer to the weekend.

What's your favorite day?

Just when i think a term can't be busier than the last, I'm proved wrong. I'm barely treading water in this week two struggle. So much so that the title of this was supposed to be Food. But Good is okay too.

So without further ado, here's the wonderful food I've been munching on. At least I still have time for food, amiright?

1. Spaghetti squash.

My mom suggested this for dinner a while back and it sounded weird, so I thought it would be. But I'm HOOKED! I ate this stuff for probably four days straight and didn't get bored of it.
And it's so simple! Cut a spaghetti squash in half and gutted the seeds and other random inside stuff, put garlic butter on there, baked open side down for like 30 minutes.
Shredded the magic vegetable spaghetti with a fork, added pasta sauce and chicken garlic herb meatballs from Costco. Best. Dinner. Ever.

2. Breakfast.

Went to this AMAZING breakfast place again with Ry. There's literally an hour wait every time. Ry got a meat lovers breakfast burrito (again) and talked about how good it was for days. Last time I got creme brûlée French toast and this time  I got cinnamon roll pancakes. No regrets. I ate cinnamon pancake leftovers for two days.

How's your week? Best thing you've eaten lately?

Happy New Year, loves

Hope the first day of your 2016 is as wonderful as you are!

I'll be spending the day with my horse and this guy, Sam the Cat. :)
